About Diane Corriette

I love writing. It’s what I was born to do (even if I did wait until my 40s to complete GET that!)

I love the internet too. It provides a unique opportunity to get paid doing what you love and it doesn’t matter whether you are a Phd or (like me) a mother of three.

100 Things About Me

Diane CorrietteI was inspired by a blog I visited called My Own Utopia by Sherry Ann (Sasha) who instead of an About Me page had 100 things about herself. She was at number 21 when I paid a visit. So I thought I would write 100 things about me too in case you care to know more about me

1. I am a mother of 3 children (that’s them on the right)

2. I live in London, England

3. I love the flexibility that working online, working from home and being able to develop passive income brings.

4. In 2005 a back injury made me realise the importance of having more than one income stream.

5. Because I am English you will find an “s” in place of a “z” and “u” where you don’t expect it (for my American cousins)

6. So favorite becomes favourite and realize is actually realise for me – but we can still work through that… just wait till you hear me say niche :)

7. Since 2005 I have spent time developing other sources of income.

8. I believe in the power of learning. You wouldn’t walk into a kitchen and expect to be head chef so don’t come online expecting to be successful without learning!

9. In 2008 my aim is to continue to develop and market the businesses I have so that they become profit pulling blog/membershipsites providing a regular 5-6 figure monthly income.

10. By 2012 I want to be financially free – which for me means debt free and enough coming in passively that I don’t have to get out of bed for six months if I didn’t want to!

11. I love food. Which does me no good at all because I spend a lot of time sitting.

12. I’m not a fan of exercise although love walking

13. I’m single at the time of writing this (December 2008)

14. I want to be married in 2009 so I have so work to do which includes getting my arse (ass) off this computer

15. I am a fairly new Christian making a decision in September 2008 to surrender my life to Jesus Christ

16. I have given up planning because my plans never work out so I’m trying it God’s way. I still have a clear vision though

17. I am a recovering control freak doing her best to let go

18. I have an internet radio show at BlogTalkRadio and call myself The English Muse

19. My parents are from an island called Dominica (not NOT Dominican Republic) but the Commonwealth of Dominica

35. I love soul and reggae (dub) music

36. My daughter is a writer too (not strictly about me but sort of) and went from wanting to study law to wanting to study English at university. Her blog is Home Grown Writing

37. I have been loved by some amazing men and am always blessed when it comes to meeting them. Our paths are going in different directions though so we part but I know my life partner is waiting for me to learn all my lessons so by the time I get to him I will have sorted myself out!

38. I love dancing (can’t believe I got to 38 before I mentioned that one!) and take part in belly dancing. Also love salsa, and of course slow dancing with a great guy to some fantastic reggae!

39. In 2007 I made some really bad choices that affected my finances in 2008 and now I am working towards recovering from that and building a big enough income so money is NEVER a problem again.

40. I learnt at 40 that life begins and I really shouldn’t give a f$*k (I would say the word normally but what with me being a new Christian…!)

41. My challenges in 2008 have helped to make me stronger and I have learnt a lot about other business people who lost everything and came back and became millionaires so its all part of the journey (although I never got to the point of losing everything – but I sold alot!)

42. I grew up believing I was ugly (it’s amazing the rubbish we tell ourselves in our head) and began the journey of loving myself in my 30s. Now in 2008 I am 42 and love myself alot. It shows because the older I get the more attention I get from people who think I am gorgeous (men and women)

43. I am blessed with some great friendships and a great mum (mom) who all supported me through my difficult time and kept giving me money because they believed in who I am and what I will achieve.

44. In my teens I believed I should “speak when I am spoken to” so I said nothing unless someone spoke to me and no one spoke to me because I said nothing!

45. I like order and am wishing I had planned my list so it went through my life history 1 to 100 but that’s the control freak in me and I’m giving her up so it doesn’t matter!

46. There was a period when I needed to be so in control that if I was buying petrol (gas) for my car I would have to buy 10.00 or 10.30 I could never buy 10.48 because it just wasn’t orderly! Glad I gave that craziness up :) Now I just hit the pump and stop when I feel like it and to hell with whatever figure comes up…… see I do know how to live dangerously!

47. I’m not really a party animal and am more of a homely girl.

48. I love to be hugged. I love giving and receiving them.

49. I do my best to help charities and give

50. I believe we reap what we sew so do my best to treat people wonderfully

51. I am blessed, highly favoured and fabulous (what I tell myself alot!)

51. 2009 is all about getting loads of new experiences and serendipitous discoveries

52. One of my biggest weaknesses is when people piss me off i cut them out of my life. No second chances and no questions. I’ve lost a few people that way! I do my best not to because I believe I reap what I sew but in the moment of pissed-off-ness I act fast and foolishly

53. I’m a scorpion (just to justify number 52!)

54. I was born on 5th November which in the UK is fireworks night. The night some guy called Guy Fawkes tried to blow up royalty. So loads of fireworks are released on the day of my birth and it’s hard for people to forget MY birthday!

55. Growing up people would make jokes about “being born with a bang” and it’s not funny after the 18th year of hearing it!

56. My African American friend Drepenba taught me how not to give a shit about what people thought and I will always be thankful for that because I restricted my life based on what people might think.

57. My friend Baz (who’s an ex partner) taught me that I was ready to love and get married again because i loved him alot but he was 15 years my senior and ready to travel the world and I have young children.

58. The hardest decision I ever made in my life was giving up the man who I considered to be the love of my life

59. Despite number 58 I gave him up anyway because I knew God hadn’t sent the ACTUAL love of my life to me yet and that was just me holding on to someone I should let go of.

60. Now there is no longer anything sexual between us and he is just a great friend and supporter. We will be friends for life but he is no threat to any new man in my life.

61. The love of my life will be loved, hugged and kissed a lot when he arrives and I intend to find the last man I will ever love.

62. I think my list is getting a little personal so will bring it back to work stuff

86. I am often called naive for being too trusting!

93. I found a lot of my family on Facebook because my surname isn’t that common. We are just trying to figure out how we are related! That’s why I love social networking.

94. I believe everyone can succeed if they would only put in the work that’s needed to get there.

95. I refuse to look back and regret anything that has happened in my life because it has all gotten me to this point.

96. In 2009 and beyond I will be dedicating my life to serving God the Father, God the Son (Jesus Christ) and God the Holy Spirit
